Who I am.

Strategy for consequential bets.

I’m JA Westenberg. SELF is my independent strategy and creative consultancy for founders, executive teams, and investors navigating moments that matter.

I help leaders decide where to play, what to stand for, and how to create conviction around the path forward. My work turns ambiguity into a clear strategic position—and that position into a narrative the market, organisation, and capital can act on.

I’m most useful when the stakes are high, the answer isn’t obvious, and the cost of fuzzy thinking exceeds the cost of getting outside help.

My point of view.

  1. Strategy is choice.

A useful strategy makes priorities explicit, closes doors, and concentrates effort where it can create disproportionate value.

  2. Positioning is a business decision.

It’s not a messaging exercise. It shapes the market you enter, the customers you pursue, the product you build, and the value you can capture.

  3. Narrative is infrastructure.

The right story aligns decisions inside the company and creates belief outside it.

  4. Clarity precedes scale.

More activity can’t compensate for an unresolved strategy. The direction has to become legible before execution can compound.

  5. Senior attention matters.

Consequential decisions shouldn’t be delegated through layers of account management and junior delivery.
